Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2026
These terms govern your use of FreelancIA, a marketplace where students post tasks and other students complete them for payment. By creating an account, you agree to these terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use FreelancIA. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
2. Posting and accepting tasks
- Task budgets must meet the platform's minimum (currently ₦1,000) — this is enforced when you post a task.
- Once a freelancer accepts your task, a private chat opens between you, and it's up to both parties to agree on scope, deadline, and expectations beyond what's written in the task description.
- You may not accept your own task.
- A client's identity is shown as "Anonymous Client" until a freelancer has accepted the task and opened the chat, as described in our Privacy Policy.
3. Payments and escrow
- Clients fund a task's reward into escrow via Paystack after a freelancer accepts it. Funds are held by the platform until the client approves the completed work.
- A platform fee is deducted from the reward before payout; the fee is disclosed before you fund a task.
- Freelancers must add valid bank payout details in their profile before they can receive a payout.
- Once a client approves submitted proof of work and releases payment, the transaction is final.
4. Proof of work and disputes
Freelancers submit proof of completed work for the client to review. Clients may approve it (completing the task and enabling payout) or request changes. We encourage both parties to communicate clearly in chat and resolve disagreements directly; if that fails, use the Report feature and our team will review the case.
5. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to:
- Post fraudulent, misleading, or illegal tasks.
- Harass, threaten, or discriminate against another user.
- Attempt to move payment off-platform to avoid the escrow protections or platform fee.
- Submit fake proof of work, or otherwise attempt to defraud another user.
- Use a fake identity or someone else's identity to create an account.
Use the Report button to flag any of the above — reports are reviewed by our team.
6. Account suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in fraud, or otherwise put other users at risk. You may stop using FreelancIA and request account deletion at any time.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
FreelancIA is a platform that connects clients and freelancers — we are not a party to the agreements formed between them, and we don't guarantee the quality, legality, or outcome of any task. To the fullest extent permitted by law, FreelancIA is not liable for disputes, losses, or damages arising from interactions between users, except where caused by our own gross negligence or willful misconduct.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the platform evolves. Continued use of FreelancIA after a change means you accept the updated terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
10. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent through the Report button in the app, or to the FreelancIA team directly.
